Well, apparently I don't have enough flexibility in my left leg for Good-mornings because of the damned sciatic inflammation. But a triathlete I worked with sent my a link to Core H, which looks absolutely miserable but he said it completely changed competitions for him and it helped a ton with his back pain. So yeah. Shit.

I am finally getting off my lazy arse and starting to get some exercise in. After coming within 2 days of death, I have continued my quest of quitting smoking and have started walking. Coincidentally, my job is now offering the ability to get discounted health insurance rates for next year due to me doing just these things, LOL. I am taking part in a 4 week walking challenge and hope to be able to join a relay for life team this summer.

Some background -- I had knee surgery in 2012 on my left knee. I then proceeded to put on a lot of weight so towards the end of school, I realized I was fat and wanted to lose weight (I was about 200 lbs. I'm only 5'7.) . Been trying since then, woop. So now has been close to a year since I really actively tried to losing weight (Starting once I got done with physical therapy, about march.) So, winter roundup:

I finally fell below my target weight, which was 180. I'm now 170 flat, which is good, because even before surgery I could never constantly be under 180.

I'm playing baseball (I played it before too) and that's helping me some. Once the season is over, I'm going to devote all of my time to school, but after that, I'm going to run in the summer. Gonna try to make it an every day activity and drop down to about 150.

overhead pressed 135x5x5 yesterday. shoulders so sore.

pretty awesome to be able to pick up, what was essentially 22 year old me, from the ground, and then push it overhead 5x.

Got my dumbbell bench up to 140 lbs for a set of 5. Stabilizing 70s is hard.

Trying to work out with school in session is impossible. I'm anticipating that after school is out finally I can really do my p90 and such. By fall semester I hope to lose 20 pounds. That's being a little optimistic though.

I think I remember some around here doing Stronglifts. I have been reading about it because I want to get into lifting heavy things. I am to a point in my bodyweight routine were I am doing a lot of reps and not really seeing anymore in gains in the last few months. I am weighing the cost of gym membership vs buying equipment vs building a power rack. I like to work out on my own time but I have to see if the 24 hour gyms around here have a power rack. I figure I will be lifting by myself so I will need something safety wise to ensure I don't hurt myself. Another plus of having it at home is getting my wife to start lifting to help with her weight loss and fitness goals. I have seen some pretty nice wooden power racks on the net and I am considering building one. I can build it for about a 1/4 of the cost of the ones I have seen online. Then I just need a bench and the weights.

Started Stronglifts on Monday with my wife. I was fine after the first day due to all my previous exercise but she was so sore yesterday she couldn't do squats last night. She still did the OHP and the deadlift. I have never done deadlifts before this and that is a great lift. I wasn't expecting much but it got my heart rate up and made my whole body feel good.

I have plantar fasciitis in both feet, so looks like my running schedule is getting put off again, and my p90 is going to be toned down. :(

Anyone here an active/used to be Kayaker? Tonight a local auction has, what appears based on Googling, to be a Ascend A-10 Kayak. The blue one in that link is the exact one at auction this evening (about 10 feet, 40-50 pounds based on removable seat, with bungee storage).

This is a ~similar~ newer model selling for $299 at Bass Pro with a $95 shipping fee.

The one for sell at auction appears used, but in relatively good condition. Was wondering what a fair price may be to bid on it? I currently drive a 2010 Mazda3, and would need to buy a roof rack system ($300+) to store and use here around my current city, but back home I have access to parentals truck(s) and am only 5 miles from a local river.
