Big Data in Java / Scala

Posted 09 April 2014 - 06:23 PM

I'm curious as to who all works around big data on here, and what their stacks are looking like. I'm a recent transplant into a pretty large scale app myself and want to get a feel for the lay of the land.

Of what I know of our stack: Hadoop, HBase, Zookeeper, Crunch, Avro, Solr, Dagger, Guava

Anyone have any favorite reading, resources, or otherwise? I've found Safari Flow and the Strata Conference videos invaluable.

As I learn more about this, I'll likely be speaking at local meetups and conferences like I currently do with Ruby. I'll be aiming to post some of those videos as I go along as well.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Well digging this back up, I started into Spark and Scala a lot more. I'd seriously recommend against Hadoop unless you want to hate your job. Anyways, to the point of bringing this back up, I'm posting tutorials on Big Data in the Software Development Tutorials section.
