Yeah I have the chroma, so I'm familiar with the backlighting capabilities but that is just light unfortunately. I just ran across the Optimus Maximus about 10 minutes ago. Unfotunately you can't get it anymore :(

Maybe one day someone will come up with it.

Hm, I could have sworn that I had seen this keyboard in the thread earlier, but now I can't find it. Anyways, for those who haven't seen it, Logitech's orion spark g910 looks pretty spiffy:

That's really sharp. I'd never heard of the type of switches it uses (Romer-G), so I looked them up. TomsHardware had a pretty good review:

Turns out, they're pretty legit. The design is nice as well, the light is channeled through the center instead of one side of the switch like Cherry's RGB switches.

But you're either going to love or hate that look. And since you can't swap out keycaps (they don't use a Cherry stem, and nobody makes replacements that fit this switch), you're stuck with them.

I'd think about picking one up if I didn't have about a dozen mechanicals already. And if they offered one w/out a tenkey pad. I've just gotten too used to having my mouse closer to my homerow.

Yeah, the fact that their LED is channeled through the center instead of a side would be really nice. That is my one complaint about the K70 RGB: on the number bar keys the top symbols don't get as lit as the bottom ones (this is true for all keys that have multiple symbols on them). It isn't the worst thing in the world, but if you are picky it may annoy.

My ultimate keyboard would be re-configurable completely. So You can store "Profiles" on it that when chosen would completely change the way the keyboard works. Even better if the letters/symbols on the keyboard could be given custom images that you could supply yourself. So if you are playing for instance Smite, wasd would be changed to show the symbols for up, left, down, and right respectively because wasd is the movement for smite. Let the keys be changed to macros as well. I feel like this could all be accomplished with a touchscreen "keyboard" I think I saw something on kickstarter similar to it a while ago.

I think I've mentioned them before in this thread, but some former neighbors of mine are doing something that I think is going to be kind of like this. www.keyboard.io
(though the key caps won't be reflecting the key's current state - I think the assumption for most keyboard enthusiasts is that you're not looking at the keyboard anyway)

They're still a ways out from production, though.

Got my new das today. I now have two - one for home, one for the office. (I like working for people who don't quibble about the equipment you need... that's a good thing)

And yeah, the blue switches are much better than the brown.
