Client Side Control Validation asp.net & bootstrap

Posted 22 May 2014 - 07:56 AM

Hi, I am new to web development and I am confused a little regarding validation.

I am using bootstrap to style my website.

I have just created a modal popup with some asp.net textboxes & buttons.

However my main problem is I cant seem to find an easy way to validate user input. I dont want to be using a asp.net validator control for every control on my page ( also doesnt look the best).

I came accross http://bootstrapvalidator.com/

This would be perfect - however I cant get this to work with asp.net controls, it seems to only work with html inputs.

Can someone please shed some light on this topic for me.

Thank you.

since ASP.NET is a server language it shouldn’t matter as long as you know the field names (don’t know what ASP produces as HTML code there), which you require for the validator setup.

There is no such thing as "asp.NET controls" Everything is HTML. Have a look at the generated markup and make it match the boostrap validator requirements.

Don't forget that user input must be checked on the server side too. Client side validation exists only to give an instant feedback to the user, but it's not reliable.
