What is the difference between DBMS and Database

What is the main difference between DBMS and Database , its been giving me problem because i mixed them together

A Database management system is the database program. IE, SQL Server, MySQL. A database is a file system that holds records.

In terms of something like Access, the database is the actual .mdb file, and Access itself is the DBMS.

Database is a collection of interrelated data .It is an organized collection of data or information so that it can be easily accessed, updated or manipulated.
Database management system is a software which is used to manage the data by storing it on to the data base and by retrieving it from the data base. The DBMS is the database engine itself.
