adding RAM

Posted 16 June 2014 - 07:03 PM

Hello all I am in the process of updating my Toshiba Laptop. It says that it haves two slots for RAM and one is being used by a 4GB stick. I went on Amazon to find another 4GB stick that matched the Speed. My question is, if I just add that stick to it will it now be dual processing and work properly with my laptop? I try looking for a similar question but due to government lacking in which website I can view I was not able to see the answers. So that is why I am here asking.

ram is not a processor-- all that will do is increase the temp storage which is used for threading--- in other words generally speaking the more ram the better. think of it this way :

car -- engine = processor
fuel = ram

Memory holds instructions & results. Processing happens with the cpu, data is transferred along the bus, & instructions are stored in memory, as well as the results.
