DNS Server isn't responding

Posted 19 July 2014 - 02:59 AM

Good day everyone!

I have a problem regarding t my browser or internet connection or I don't know what is the problem.

Im using a broadband, it is connected in internet, but every time I browse using a Chrome/Internet explorer/Mozilla there's an error saying "Server not found". And every time I troubleshoot my internet connection there's an error saying "DNS Server not found".

Can anyone help me with this problem? Any feed back is mush appreciated.

Thank you!

** Topic moved to Computer Support -> Software -> Windows **

Does this happen over Ethernet or Wifi, or both?

Please run the following, & paste the results to help troubleshoot :

Quote

C:\>tracert 8.8.8.8

Tracing route to google-public-dns-a.google.com [8.8.8.8]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <10 ms <10 ms <10 ms

Unfortunately it isn't an on/off switch. DNS has any levels of activity between your computer/laptop, networking equipment, your isp, & the actual dns server in use.

I'm trying to help, but it's going to require troubleshooting. Let me know the output from my request & we can continue.

Look, this is going to happen for a number of reasons. If you are unable or unwilling to assist with troubleshooting, I can't help you.

Best of luck. I suggest calling your isp. You seem to want a canned solution, & that's not something that I can provide. I was more than willing to help, but without your input & feedback with troubleshooting that I provided, I have zero way of knowing the error.

My car makes a clank sound, what's wrong?

Again, best of luck, but I am not able to help you with only the description that you are providing.

Perfect, thank you.

Can you now do an nslookup on espn.com & show me those results.

This will show me what dns service that your machine is using to look up addresses. The previous test shows that you have no problem issuing a request to your isp & getting results from the server you requested.

Now try this :

Quote

nslookup
> server
Server: b.resolvers.Level3.net
Address: 4.2.2.2

*** b.resolvers.Level3.net can't find server: Non-existent domain
> server 4.2.2.1
Default Server: a.resolvers.level3.net
Address: 4.2.2.1

> ebay.com
Server: a.resolvers.level3.net
Address: 4.2.2.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: ebay.com
Addresses: 66.135.216.190, 66.211.160.87, 66.211.160.86

Please enter the above commands, & let me know if you get the same results by manually switching the dns server.

So the troubleshooting shows that your dns server is timing out, & mine works.

But because you insist on private messaging me to hurry up, I'm going to wait until tomorrow to reply on how to fix it. In the meantime you can google the instructions for your self.

Each time you private message me that you are waiting for my reply, I wait another day to provide more instructions.

It took me 3 replies to even get you to troubleshoot it properly, as you insisted on replying the same error every time. You need to understand proper communication, in my opinion. You are going about asking for & appreciating help all wrong.
