Typed DataSet

Posted 11 October 2007 - 04:40 AM

Hi guys. Here's my problem:

How do I generate a typed dataset from a XSD schema that I've designed in the XML designer in Visual Studio 2005?

My book says to, "right click Schema view and click generate dataset." It is referring to a previous version of Visual Studio and I can't find that option in VS2005.

??

In Visual Studio 2005 the added the DataSet Designer and when you create a DataSet this way it saves it as an XSD file also. I'm not sure how you would convert an existing XSD file to a Typed DataSet as I've never gone that route.

There is a console command called xsd. It's usually not pathed, my current installation has it in "D:\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\sdk\v2.0\Bin". This command can take an XML file and make an XSD out of it.

I can also create classes for an XSD, which is useful for visualizing things like XML Serialization in .NET.

Hope this helps.
