does anyone have info on how to make an oracle legacy dump?

our client wanted a sybase to oracle dump which i made now they said they want an oracle legacy dump that is made not using the data pump. I have never hear of such a thing or legacy to that point.

does anyone have some links or knowledge to this end?

i have tried the oracle site but they are very vague or the pages show up as 404 not found.

No such thing. :P

The oldest form of Oracle backup is the export. ( Well, after cold backup, I guess. ) It's also one of the simplest and I still use them, in addition to RMAN and the odd data pump.

You're looking for this, I think: http://docs.oracle.c...215/exp_imp.htm

ok i was on the right track then-- however why is it when i use data pump all my triggers/keys etc are moved over perfectly but when i use the exp on the same connection none of my triggers or keys get moved over?

host EXP dbo_CDOTNWP/dbo_CDOTNWP FILE=dbo_CDOTNWP115.DMP OWNER=dbo_CDOTNWP LOG=dbo_CDOTNWP115.log;
this doesnt carry over my triggers or keys

data pump does with everything identical as the exp---

i cant use data pump because client doesnt want it

Using owner= should get you all the objects in that schema.

An export doesn't list triggers and keys in the log, as those objects belong to the table. Do the import and see what you have at the end of the day.

Note, an import will not create objects that already exist. It also doesn't purge. If you didn't drop a table for an import, it will skip table creation ( and possibly table object creation? ) and just load data.
