I didn't think this really fit into any threads about programming so I'm putting it here. I came across this site offering certifications pretty cheap over here. But I know sometimes you get what you pay for. How do you know a web company's certifications are credible?

Ask an employer if they've heard of them
I only have 1 certification at the moment, but I'm going to have to get my A+, Network+, and Security+ by the end of next year I think.
I am Google AdWords Certified.

I don't have any certifications, and don't plan on getting any in the near future, unless they are part of a class or sponsored somehow through the company that I'm working for.

I know at least in the UK they are beginning to be accepted as my government sponsored training scheme came with a "Expert rating" certificate in C++

We just had a huge Certifications thread.
I have a CCNA right now, going for CompTIA A+ & Network+ and I'm thinking about getting the new CCENT in the very near future to add to my Cisco collection.

Good point.
I think CompTIA certs hold a lot of weight, Cisco for sure, vendor specific certs like "Macromedia ColdFusion Certified", and maybe even BrainBench. I've not done much interviewing so I'm not really sure what people are even putting on their resumes.

Vendor specific certs can be a big win, if you hit the Gsweet spot of the employer, so a firm that mainly deals with BEA will appreciate BEA certs, etc. (this needs A LOT of luck, and probably not worth the hassle, probably the firm will send you to the training in your first year if it is important for them )
In the Java world Sun's certs are a good entry in general, and they might save you from a part of the interview, but probably that is the part that worries you the least.
