Old-School Jokes - on the decline?

Posted 29 October 2007 - 11:55 PM

Let me ask you this - when last did you hear a proper (and I mean proper) joke?

I'm not talking about one of those emails with, "...this is really funny - read to the end...", or, "...scroll down, scroll down... it's worth it! ... scroll down.." (I personally hate this last version!)

I'm talking about a real joke told by a live human being. One with a story and a real punchline.
There are guys who are really good at this. They string you along until just the right time then BAM they hit you with the punchline. Their timing is everything.

I think these natural talents are being drowned out by the so-called "funny" emails. There's just too much of it and most of it is so ho hum.

It would be interesting to see a vote on email jokes vs people jokes...
My opinion? Bring back the Jokers, we need them more than ever!

Anyway that's just my rant for the day...
(I'm off to check my emails...)

We had here a couple of revolution / riot like protests, so we have plenty of old school jokes / jokers, because the resources seem to be undepletable, since these things are not happening without a reason.

My vote goes to people jokes. I delete most that come in via email.

“How did the turtle cross the freeway?” take the f from free and the f from way.

This one works much better in person because a few folks have to write it down to get it.

There is no F in way

HAHAHA!!

I love going to stand up shows. Unfortunately there are some rubbish comics, but if you live in a big enough city, there's got to be some good comedy on somewhere every weekend. :^:
