UK Web Designers - How do you charge for domains/webspace

Posted 27 January 2015 - 03:03 PM

Hi just a quick question, how much do you charge to make a website, do you charge per site, page or per hour?

Also how do you pay for the webspace and domains do you ser it all up using your clients details so any renewal costs each year are taking from their accounts?

I/ my company generally charges per site. How much depends on the work involved, complexity, and other factors.

I have done sites were we bought the domain, ssl, and stock images and ones where they just paid for development. It all depends on what the client's needs.

We have a few dedicated servers, so hosting is generally done through us. If we have control of the server then we can control uptime and handle issues if it goes down. I have personally just FTPed into clients accounts and done things that way as well... I have also been burned when they decided I charged to much after the fact and the work had already been uploaded too.

I charge in one complete package & hosting & domain are included for the first year. Primarily I offer web hosting, design is actually secondary.
