WPF - helper

There is a discussion here at SO about the challenge of WPF without using an IDE.

Personally, I wouldn't attempt this completely from scratch. I would at least use VS to initiate the application. You might consider XamlPad2 for writing the XAML, and, as you mention, Notepad++ for the code behind.

I not only read this article,but am totally fascinated by it.Now i am programming full scale with notepad and cmd only.All complicated programs can be executed by this method.I thank the author fr this.
I also happened to find some miraculous tips on how to code multiple controls on a form-normally you get errors in the mass output.Common erors are over shooting the requirement-this i think is because of the compiler's speed.We normally stall the compiler by 'Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000)' to get better results.Some times even with this there are threading problems.Because of this article i found out a wondefull solution-which i will share with all of you once i complete my research in this.
Cheers emresutisna -keepup the good work.
You get more and more familiar with the coding procedure by following this method.
Thanks a lot
NOTE: I have given two file on which i am working now.I am also giving the command to operate this:
path=%path%;c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.30319
VBC /OUT:VB2 /T:winexe C:\Users\.......\VB2.vb
VBC /OUT:VB2 /T:winexe C:\Users\.....VB22.vb C:\Users\.....\VB2.vb
VB2

Repack these files into .vb files and see the output.I just took half a day to make this complicated programme.For any body interested further i shall explain in [email protected]
I assure you once you become addicted to this you will not have second look at express and studio!!!!Attached File  VB2.txt (63.37K)

Use the appropriate path suitable to your computer.

Hello friends,
further to my reply i want add this new project code for another complicated application for the benefit of all.I am trying all possibilities of Studio programming in cmd-notepad method.There are some difficulties,because Studio gives you spoon feeding--whereas cmd/notepad requires all your skills to write the programme.It is real challenging.If you are in professional hurry to make an application-do it in Studio and then in leisure try it in cmd/notepad (in short--(C-Pad) programming).Let us make a group for promoting this C-Pad style.Let us exchange codings as there are experts out there who understand Visual Basic inside out.The can lend a helping hand to all of us.
Use the appropriate path suitable to your computer.

Hello Friends,
Here is another C-Pad program.This directly downloads a web photo on to a picturebox--as a loop.I feel this is not perfected.The loop should repeat continuosly.Let some expert VB.Net specialist perfect this code and represent for the benefit of all of us.

Command codes for cmd are:

path=%path%;c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework64\v4.0.30319
vbc /nowarn /OUT:VB3 /T:winexe C:\Users\.......\Desktop\VB3.vb
vbc /nowarn /OUT:VB3 /T:winexe C:\Users\.........\Desktop\VB33.vb C:\Users\..........\Desktop\VB3.vb
VB3

Fill out dotted lines appropriately.

I am working on other programs also.I have successfully created opening second form form first form.The second form opens by button click.To fill second form with controls you have to add codes in the button sub itself.I shall post one later
regards,blessings and
happy coding to all
thanks in advance to the expert who will perfect this codeset

Hello Friends,

Hello Friends,
I have been busy breaking the myth around WPF programming.There was and will be,a lot of discussion about whether WPF can be done by C-Pad programming.All those supposed to be experts out there claimed unanimously,that WPF is impossible with out Visual Studio and Blend.
Now to the happiness of all new budding programmers i break this myth (after of course 12 X 8 hrs of my valuable programming hours-These are very costly to me at this age).
I have enclosed a text file along with this article which will explain clearly the procedure(Generalised to the maximum) how to C-Pad the WPF.
I do not believe in teaching youngsters "Hello World" style programming.I believe in teaching tougher things,which are normally not available on the net.Read and comment(in a respectful way of course-see my ageAttachment WPF.txt)

happy coding to all

hello again,

This time within a span of three hours i have brought you another program of wpf (VB and xaml).Read the txt file and follow instructions.You will notice that i have changed contents of App1.xaml and App1.xaml.vb files only-to suit the new window.I have left out detailed coding to all of you.You can design the events as per your choice.

Dear all,
I am Back-"Arnold style".This time with a fully coded WPF program.Indexing is WPF-3rd/C-Pad Style.
I have enclosed a text file-WPF-3rd.txt in which i have explained everything.I have added one or two entries in the .dll refrences in the Driver.vbproj.As i told you earlier,any number of additions to the references don not alter the program.They remain common to all programs without interfearing in the compilation.

The App.xaml and App.xaml.vb is same.

The App1.xaml and App1.xaml.vb have been rcoded to suit this program.

I have found Microsoft has changed the coding style of WPF(as for as i know in VB base).The have created msdn libraries specifically for WPF only.Hence for special coding new events refer these.I shall try and make library storage program-specially for WPF.I already made one in VB.Net(VB.1-i think-my first program).

Follow the Caution given in the last few lines to start the program.Follow path procedures as per your computer and requirements.

I have one more suggestion to budding programmers.Since codings are what you struggle and make-keep tab of them in a seperate file with suitable headings.You can always refer back to them in case of need and not just memorise them.You can make a lbrary program specifically for this.

I will back every now and then-"Anold Stle" as well as "Bruce Willis Style".See Expendable series 2 and 3 for this.

regards and blessings,
happy coding to all

Please do not hijack a tutorial to dump your project files. Splitting the topic.

Your series of posts were attached to a tutorial, but went a different tangent in some project you are promoting. In common terms this is called 'hijacking', and not a favorable thing. If you feel you need to submit a tutorial please create a new topic - in the appropriate tutorial section - and those tutorials will be reviewed in time. Alternatively you are able to make a blog and post your information there on your project.

As it is - your tangential posts were split off of the tutorial you posted them to and put into their own thread.

Hello All,
Today i am going to give a tip on "How to add an Icon of your choice" to a form-in VB.Net or a Window-in WPF/VB.Net.
1.Form-in VB.Net::
Add this code to a Form_load event:-

Dim Ico As New System.Drawing.Icon("C:\Users\.......\Desktop\some.ico")
Me.Icon = Ico

Note:The path is where your icon is stored.some.ico is the name of your icon file.You can convert any image in to an icon.Online convertors are available.Just google-online icon convertors.

Example:-http://www.icoconverter.com/

2.Window-in WPF/VB.net
Add the following line(marked with underlined <---->) to the Tuo-most Window element in App1.xaml file.

<Window x:Class="App1"
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
Title="App1" Height="945" Width="1246" Background="DarkSlateGray"
Name="App1" Icon="C:\Users\......\Desktop\some.ico" >
<------------------------------------->

Note:The path is where your icon is stored.some.ico is the name of your icon file.

Regards and blessings,
Happy Coding to All
Venkatraman/kvinvisibleguy

Note:I convert my own jpg image to icon.You can also do that to put your stamp on your project.

Hello All,

I am Back once again.This time with a complex wpf example,involving external resources addition in to the main project.Here you create a new file-MyResourcesDictionary.xaml where in you put number of resources which will be tapped at runtime.
There is App.xaml modification for introducing this file.There is an insert in Driver4.vbproj file on the same.<ProjectGUID> is altered.New tips on spacing,fontsize and fontweight(bold) are also given.Enjoy.
regards and blessings,
happy coding,
