Tv shows of note

Posted 09 November 2007 - 10:04 PM

I just restarted my account for netflix cause i'm out of crap to watch and with my favorite shows only having a couple weeks left due to this strike i need more crap.

but due to already having the 3 disc plan i've seen every movie ever made.

so,
post your favorite tv shows and i'm gonna start grabbing seasons.
newer ones, i don't want seven seasons of friends or seinfeld. i already have that crap.

my top shows currently:

obviously Lost, just grabbed season 3 again. amazing.

heroes :: is picking up after that last episode, it made me forget i hated the rest of the season

JERICHO

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - greatest show possibly ever made. i can't decide if i'm jason street or landry

The Office

Scrubs & 30 rock i think are funny, but not the office funny.

grey's anatomy is the worst show ever made. DO NOT SAY YOU LIKE IT.

nip tuck. classic.

I am a big fan of numb3rs. Story is that a FBI team solves crimes using a poly-mathematician genius who is the younger brother of the lead FBI agent. It is pretty interesting. I watch it every Friday night at 10pm. Going to go watch it here in about 45 minutes actually. They have seasons 1, 2, and 3 out on DVD.

The polymath, his name is Charlie and he has this girl who is smokin hot. Thing is, she is a genius too in astrophysics. Smart and hot... what else could a nerd like me want!

But anyways, thought you might enjoy it. :)

I too like Numb3rs. I don't know if they can keep it up though. I also think that the writing does not have a cohesiveness that will keep the show one the air. Basically I really like the show, so I am preparing myself for it to be canceled.

You've got most of my top ones in there already. I know you weren't looking for older ones, but I rewatch The West Wing once or twice a year. Definitely my all-time favorite.

And for some perverse reason, I've been watching Deadliest Catch the last little while.

jj, about 6 months ago i wasted a month of netflix getting every episode.
7 seasons x 6 dvd's a piece = 42 discs / 3 per shipment = 14 back and forths.
that must have been like 2 months now i think about it.

yeah i used to watch it back in the day, its probably one of the best written shoes of all time. seriously though, josiah bartlett can be my president anyday.

and santos.

i wish they would have planned on it being a hit and then only done half a year per season, so that we could have had like 16 seasons of it.
then i would be happy.

i'll get numb3rs.
most shows on friday nights kick ass because they are all slightly-nerdy but definitely above average intelligence and don't appeal to the dumbed down populous.

I've only watched BSG and The Dudesons in the last 4 years, both of them almost during one or two weekends. I hate to wait for next episodes, so I simply wait until the whole thing (or maybe season) is out and watch 'em at once.

I totally forgot about Battlestar Galactica...great show, thanks for reminding me. It has it's ups and downs (season 3 finale was all over the place quality-wise), but overall, definitely in my favorites.

Never really thought about it that way, as I usually don't actually watch them as they air. But I guess the execs just figure it's only us nerds sitting at home friday nights watching tv, so they might as well give us something intelligent to watch.

I also liked Sports Night, another of Sorkin's works. The laugh track pissed me off quite a bit when they had it during the first season (I'm pretty sure I can figure out what's funny, thanks), but Sorkin's style really solidified over the course of it. Only 2 seasons, though. And I also kind of like the fact that the season 1 finale for every show that he has written (west wing, sports night, and studio 60) have all been titled "what kind of day has it been"...though I'm not really sure why. Just nice continuity, I guess.

I think that numb3rs will probably be next on my list of things to check out. Looked into it briefly after seeing Martryr2 mention it a couple of times, and it seemed to be worth my time.
