Fairly basic introduction, though Python programmers should pay very close heed to the note about using List Comprehensions instead for general programming.

The reasoning behind still using those functions in Python is that the Spark DSL uses them heavily, making it necessary to know the basics of. I intend to post far more advanced articles, and in them I will go over Python as well as Scala solutions.

As an aside, you'll notice I tend to prefer Scala for these tasks, and I mention why in the article.
