making air going inside the GPU ?

Posted 04 August 2015 - 12:27 PM

Hello.
i have a gt630m 2gb for my HP laptop and it gets about 80c (the last time i checked) so i bought this small fan and have this 2 ideas in my mind, but im not so sure about it..
1- putting the fan on top of the keyboard to cool the GPU
2- putting the fan in the GPU vent...
im not so sure about number 2. if i let the air from the fan goes INSIDE the GPU would it harm it or cause any damage ?

GPU vent

Fan above GPU

fan blowing air INTO the GPU <-- is this safe ?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

My rule was always : fans should pull air away from the unit, not push air onto it.

Blowing in is just.. against the flow of the laptop. A laptop, and most towers, should be designed to expel heat.. thus they are channeled, build, curved, etc for this job. It's a hot, hot steamy tunnel of exhaust.. or love.. which ever floats your boat. That super sexy tunnel is intended to flow one way - out. Going against that is not a cool idea.
