Tkinter dropdown window.

I want to have a dropdown window like this one

and I found a way you can do is on a Linux here using `wm_type()` but it does not work on Macintosh. How would I make a similar window on a mac? I assume I would need to use a top-level?

Yes, that is a popup window, or dialog (not a dropdown). Tkinter has dialogs.

But, it is not a standard one. It is fixed to the top bar of the main screen whereas the normal ones have their own ones. How do I specify this type?

The standard dialogs don't allow you to position them. You'll have to investigate creating your own custom dialog. Maybe someone has written something that you could tailor, try searching "tkinter custom dialog".
