I still attest I would pay for a Vader movie that was just switched scenes every 7-13 minutes to be a new scene, new guys, and Vadar demolishing them.

That or the Vader Down arc in the last Vadar comics. This.. this scene was crazy neat.

I think Donnie Yen is, or at least was, relatively unknown outside of Chinese martial arts movies like Ip Man and the new Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. He had a scene in Blade 2, where he was part of Blade's team of vampire hunters, but I don't think he even had a line of dialogue in it. If you liked him and haven't seen those, I'd highly recommend all of the Ip Man movies. They're modern legends about Ip Man, who was Bruce Lee's master. For the most part they're just hearsay stories about what a badass he was, nothing documented confirms that he did the majority of what's in those movies. But there's a nugget of truth in them, and they're really fun to watch. The Sword of Destiny is the sequel to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and stars him as the male lead. Another really good one, based on one of my favorite Kurosawa movies (Seven Samurai), is Seven Swords, which features him as one of the seven heroes.

Martial arts movies are my shit. I love em. It's what I like about Star Wars - that it drew so heavily on Kurosawa and the Jedi are basically Space Yamabushi. I get into a wide range of styles of movies - my favorite I think are dramas about music (most of my top 5 movies are about musicians), but when it comes to action I want martial arts. It's probably why I'm not particularly interested in the superhero movies. I'd rather watch the Matrix, just about anything Kurosawa or Woo-ping, and just about anything starring Toshiro Mifune, Donnie Yen, Bruce Lee, Jet Li, or Sonny Chiba. To the degree that other people like gratuitous explosions like in the Expendabros or Burn Notice, I like drawn out martial arts fight scenes. Those are the movies I can get into the action on. Finding Donnie Yen as a Force Sensitive blind monk really made me fall in love with the movie, completely unexpectedly. I always give a fair chance and expected going in that I wouldn't like it, but see? I love it.

I'm gonna have to agree that it might be the single best Star Wars movie. If 8 could come close to that I might go see it.

And yeah I thought of mentioning the CGI but didn't want to seem like I was bashing it. It was awesome. It wasn't perfect, but it certainly worked.

but if you loved Star Wars before Jar Jar, then you likely won't love this one.

I was disappointed in the new one. Found Rogue One to be substantially better.

That's fair Jon - the point I was getting at is that the movie wasn't bad by many standards (whether or not it's a bad Star Wars movie), I don't regret going to see it, and, for example...

Spoiler

... but I supposed most people who claim to love Star Wars fell in love with the story before Jar Jar, so it's redundant to make that qualification.
