Can't run one game and firefox at the same time, running out of me

Posted 04 February 2016 - 04:23 PM

Looks like OS takes like 500 MB of memory, game takes 700 and firefox takes 500. My PC have 2 GB. It should be enough, but still they keep crashing.

a) How to minimise memory usage for windows 7?

B) How can I monitor current memory, cpu, drive and network usage from tray? Have you stumbled upon something like that?

c) Why my firefox crashes so much lately?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

A typical culprit is a plug-in. You could start by disabling them all, there's probably a command line for that if you don't want to do it manually. Then you could selectively disable them to discover which in particular is the villain.

If it is not a plug-in then you could clear the cache, update, or possibly reinstall, Firefox.

Run a virus check, etc., as well.

I wonder what reports does firefox tries to send after every crash, I never looked inside one of those. Is that a lost knowledge or something? No, it's laziness.

What is the video card situation? On board or discrete card?

What is your system where you are running 2gb of ram?

It's a notebook, so everything is built in, I guess? I didn't thought this could affect things, huh...

On board video cards typically carve out some ram to run... In additional to the os, apps, and games.

So task manager lied to me? I felt that, but how can I make sure that's really it?

You look at the bios to see what the video memory value is.

It didn't lie to you.. The bios claims chunks first.
