Interesting new free web-service

Posted 03 May 2016 - 10:12 AM

Hi

A new free web-service to check password strength has been released . It can be of great help for web developers

You can find that on https://passable.io . It not only make the process of sign-up easier, but also helps in the development phase because instead of having to code sign-up password requirements only a request, to the web-service, and check the answer, has to be performed. Plain password is never revealed in the process.

Please, let us know your feedback
Best regards,

So you're expecting people to send a 3rd party all their password hashes for "validation"?...

That doesn't sound entirely wise.

I'll admit, I'm no expert on hashing algorithms, or the more in-depth topics of digital security, but I really wouldn't want just anybody to have a list of all the password hashes being used in my systems.

I wouldn't be comfortable using it. Sending a password out of my system, just doesn't seem like anything I would advise to do either. Sending which hash as well? Seems like an easy way to build rainbow tables.

Sticky API helps developers to access and integrate the functionality of Sticky with other applications.

Looks like a crap system anyway. The public doc homepage that they give the link to is broken and it is just for tracking. Sticky-icky
