java crash application tracking

Does it possible in ubuntu to track what happend with some java application? I have one and constantly crashes, exit and I see only desktop. How to track what happend? I tried to reinstall app, and java, and no success.

I don't know of any default logging other than /var/log/, I believe it would depend on what the application provides.

Entries in /var/log/messages/ should contain core dumps, but "crashing" is an awfully broad term.
