making a utility program with xna?

Posted 09 September 2016 - 09:36 AM

so i am trying to make a little utility that converts image formats. but i want to make it into a little console application because i don't need it to do it in real time. i just want to make a little utility i can use

i want to use XNA library to do this because i am familiar with it and seems like the tools are in place for me to do it

but i don't know how to make a windows forms or console application using the XNA library.

anybody got ideas?

XNA would most definitely _not_ be the route. A short console app in VB.NET or C# would do it.

... yeah, or look at existing projects for .NET and avoid the XNA cruft.. like 'ImageMagick.NET'.

Just an FYI as I still use XNA for editors for MonoGame projects. When I need to create an editor with Win Forms I'd start by creating an XNA project. I'd then add in the references for Win Forms and any library that I might required. I'd then modify Program.cs to launch the Win Form instead of the game. In the case of console just create an XNA game and not have it create a Game object and run it. Just do the console work. But, as modi mentions, neither Mono or XNA are what you want to do this.
