Convert your desktop application to a Universal Windows Platform (UWP)

Posted 23 September 2016 - 09:11 AM

Has anyone seen this? It's about being able to add your regular applications to Windows store.

It is better to provide a little more information directly here in the thread rather than just relying on the link:

Quote

UWP using Desktop Conversion extensions is a bridge that enables you to convert your Windows desktop application (like Win32, Windows Forms, and WPF) or game to a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app or game. For more info, see Guide to UWP apps. After conversion, your Windows desktop application is packaged, serviced, and deployed in the form of a UWP app package (an .appx or an .appxbundle) targeting Windows 10 Desktop.

Do you have an opinion to share?

I'm a newer member and I wasn't sure if cut and pasting from articles was allowed.

This feature seems like it has potential. I am interested in finding out if anyone else has tried it and their thoughts on it and what version of Visual Studio they are using.

I can see a possible benefit in an old system, but I would see it more used by those that would rather not learn the new tech and instead do what they have been and run it through the converter.
