RPG game hyped :P

Posted 07 December 2016 - 09:06 AM

so ... http://www.dreaminco...17724-rpg-math/

this dude right here made me very hyped as a new student in programming :D

can you show me an idea on how to make a simple "hello world" 1v1 fight between you and the computer that works like this? :

-you both have 50HP
-its random who goes first
-max damage 1-10
and my idea is to random generate number from 1 to 10 for the damage, turn by turn and the first one who loses all HP will display a "game over" or "you won" message. :)

sorry for my bad English :D

i just wanna take an idea how you guys code this things out

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

i dont know how to make it randomly generate a number of the damage and subtract it from the HP , the rest will be just printf's texts .

Your thread has been moved to our Volunteer Jobs and Collaborative Teambuilding forum. Please remember that threads seeking volunteer help, a group to learn together, or a group to work on a hobbyist project do not belong in the general help forums or our paid jobs forum.
The paid jobs forum is strictly for jobs for which you intend to pay some definite sum in a negotiable currency. Shares in future profits, in-game currencies, and promises of possible employment do not qualify.

Then perhaps game programming isn't the best place for you to start.

You mention printf, so you're talking C/C++, if you don't know how to do randoms, why not start there?

I guess maybe I don't understand exactly what the question is. You want an example, but you just said you don't know the basics. How is an example going to help?

Random number generation is not specific to turn base games. You can research this outside of the scope of asking for an example.

Take the task in small, manageable chunks, research, write code, compile, learn. This is why I suggested jumping right into game development might be too large of a task if you are just learning to code.

Considering most games are written in the C family, yes. What you want isn't complicated, you just need to understand what you want fist, and an understanding of the basics to move you thru the process.
