looking for feedback on java memory leak detector

Posted 11 December 2016 - 12:41 AM

Hi all,

I just released an open source java memory leak detector, and I'm seeking feedback from the community.
Would like to see whether it works on a larger variety of applications.

https://github.com/e...eller/heapSpank

In the background, the tool captures output from 'jmap -histo'. It looks for class names with rising counts of bytes/instances.
Just download the jar and run by giving it the pid of the jvm you want to monitor:

java -jar heapSpank-0.6.jar 8173

....where 8173 is the process id of the JVM you want to monitor for memory leaks.

It found one of my memory leaks in just minutes -- would like to know whether it works for you, and what I can do to improve it.

Here is the download for the jar:

https://github.com/e...apSpank-0.6.jar

On my github page, link above, I made the download link a little more prominent....working towards one of those interweb webpages, not there yet.
