Macbook Air for budding programmer.

Posted 20 December 2016 - 01:02 PM

Hello,

I am planning to buy new laptop becouse my old Samsung broke down. I have been using for 2 days my friends Macbook Air 2015 - i5 1.6 GHZ (Turbo 2.7 GHZ), 8 GB RAM. I admit that I liked it very much - battery life, weight, dimensions, construction, performance. I am programming in C++, C# and webdev a little. I mostly like C# - Visual Studio for Mac, Xamarin for mobile applications - one language for web, desktop and mobile. Do You think that Macbook Air will be enough for next ~ 3 years of my learning (virtual machines, projects with more files, external monitor)?

In my country Macbook is quite expensive so I want to be sure that it will be enough until I get a well paid job.
Sorry for my english - I am still learning it.

Adam

You may run into some issues running VM's, but that shouldn't hinder you. Otherwise, I have one that I use for Xamarin development.
