I don't think a whole group of people deserve to die in a fire just because they find a body type attractive or dance a certain way.

What are you, some sort of communist?

Amusing anecdote related to the hip phrases used by the kids these days:

Mancat had his wisdom teeth yanked about two years ago. We were sitting in the car waiting for the pharmacy to fill his prescription (because he was WAY too doped up to wait inside - like trying to corral a 200 lb. toddler with a mouth full of cotton). Anyway, we're sitting there, listening to music, he's staring at my hand with a mesmerized look of awe, as though he's never seen a hand before, when he suddenly dropped my arm, looked up, and announced in a loud, numb, medicated slur, "Look! My eyebrows are on fleek!"

As my 8th grader would say, "Same, fam."

Regression testing. Oh joy. It seems, since we're run, that our regression has increased exponentially every release. I suggested splitting into a separate team to divide and conquer but I think that idea is flying over like a lead balloon.

Regression isn't that bad. Well.. as long as you automate it.

There are some that just can't be automated or wouldn't be feasible to automate. Plus that's growing exponentially also. Automation takes time to run also, and it'll hog all the Jenkin's resources. Then if a scenario fails, we have to figure out why, which takes more time.

Yeah... Iiiiiiii know. Been there; was an official QA tester; have the t-shirt.

Worked in a place where zero automation testing. Got tired real quick with the new code and regression. I later found out we had licensing for automated tools, but they went unused. Fast forward a few down cycles reading up on the tools and proceeded to having working regression scripts that operated with Excel and all that jazz for data, reporting, etc. Colonized a little known lab to run them, and relished in my new found time spent abusing the new code. Every so often added a few new cases for regression but the bulk was already done.

Every journey starts with a single step just as every automated regression testing starts with a single case. :^: ;)

Are these nondeterministic failures, or network-dependent?

More like a "we don't test this very often so don't automate it because we're not gonna waste time on it" or a "we don't know how to interface with this and we're too busy to figure it out" kinda deal, like verifying documents. \_(ツ)_/

So we have like 60 CRT monitors to get rid of. Azathoth just sent an email out to everyone in the company saying anyone is welcome to take as many as they want home.

Three people have asked me, "what's a CRT monitor?"

And everyone's talking about it. No one knows what a CRT monitor is apparently.

I feel old.

Next time someone asks me I'm gonna tell em it's a monitor that was common in the previous millenium but which has been phased out in the modern era.

We needed to test an old fax line, and the CIO brought in an old landline phone, with cord. One of our devs asked what it was!!! The plight of the younger generation!
