Possibilities of modern artificial intelligence

Posted 17 January 2017 - 06:25 PM

Hi

Not sure if question is in the right category, I'm sure, it is not, but anyway.

I'm interested in people's opinions who have connection with AI development projects, what they think about such more popularized in non-professional environment projects as https://www.youtube....h?v=vtX-qVUfCKI and https://www.youtube....h?v=RnvvXlCLl1M by David Hanson and http://www.cleverbot.com/ and https://www.eviebot.com/en/ by Rollo Carpenter or Project Natal (Project Milo) https://www.youtube....h?v=CPIbGnBQcJY by Peter Molyneux

How the Clevrbot, Milo or car autopilot works to a greater or lesser extent, is understandable even to me, but the answers of Sophia sounds like it is near to be clever machine in the aspect of the semantic content of the conversation, otherwise it is just prescribed or correctly to say mainly prescribed answers for show, chat with text-to-speech and animatronics. I'm trying to understand, maybe I just lagged behind reality

Not where is belongs, but I am not sure what information you are after in order to move it to the correct place either.

Well this isn't a nightmare in code ( per the sub forum header this forum is dedicated to sharing the worst code you've seen). Moving to Software dev..

What are you looking for? How they work? How to use them? MS Cognitive Services are pretty swanky to dip into.

Modern AI is really a form of statistical analysis,

so if you are worried about robots becoming sentient,

don't as we know nothing about consciousness which is really a mystery to every field.

but we can replicate the approximate facade and rough attributes of a human being in robot form.

And that is it.

Many big companies like facebook are working for the future of artificial intelligence. Facebook is even ready to launch a separate satellite so they can easily transform human running machines to automatic world.

<sarcasm>And we all know how well Facebook's AI for detecting click bait, hate posts, and fake news worked out.</sarcasm> :)

Seriously, though. I think that AI will get better. Consider how much better our SPAM filters are now as opposed to the past. It wasn't just a matter of throwing more hardware at the problem. It was a matter of coming up with better algorithms and training with the right set of data.
