Script Command for Windows Command Prompt

Posted 24 January 2017 - 12:16 PM

Is there a way to create a typescript of a command prompt session in Windows 7 like the "script" command does in the terminal in UNIX? I can't figure out a way and it would make my life so much easier!!

Oops I posted in the wrong section by mistake. Sorry! Trying to figure out if I can edit it.

Thank you for the quick response! I downloaded it and I think powershell is what I'm looking for. It looks really useful, but I can't figure out how to get it to create a typescript.

I don't understand in what context you are using 'typescript'.

Perhaps check the tutorials out for it. "msdn powershell tutorial"

Example:

No, there is no equivalent to the unix/linux command 'script' which creates transcripts of the output from a command line.

That is unless you are willing to install Cygwin which I warn you in advance is a pretty heavy download.

But now you have PowerShell you can simply go to Edit -> select all , Edit -> copy and then open up notepad and paste the contents of the command line session there and then save the file as a .txt or whatever you please.

Regards

Snoopy.
