Rodeo website - Project

Posted 08 February 2017 - 02:19 AM

This is my first web project in a long time, I am currently a student, and Im tired of working at a bar, so Im hoping this will be my breakthrough.
I first started doing web design in Photoshop, and after that to code it. Most of the frond end is finished, all it needs now is to be polished. It will have a simple, very simple CMS, you login in, create a new blog post, and thats it. Maybe some more features but later on as it is not a priority. For CMS I thought of going with ASP.NET C#, but Im having some problems with it, and Im considering PHP and MySQL for it.

How it looks like in Photoshop> http://i.imgur.com/cS4R4pv.jpg
And how it looks like coded> https://brsjsk.000webhostapp.com/

I would appreciate any tips for front end or back end, what to do, what to fix, what does not look good in your opinion. This might help me get away from not so good jobs in not so good bars, but also I could learn more. Feel free to look in the CSS file, or the HTML, and you can tell me what to fix, what not to fix etc.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Many of the images, including the map, are blurry/ill-defined/pixelated (I'm not sure of the correct term).

The thin red bar in the navbar doesn't line up when you point at the second link.

The text in the red bar towards the bottom should be centred in the bar.

The page isn't responsive, this is a requirement these days.

It is entirely your decision whether to go with ASP.NET or PHP (or some other direction) but "having some problems" is not a good reason to change. It would be better if you just said "I'm not comfortable" with ASP.NET (or something similar).

I did not work that much on it being resposive. I tested it on my phone, and it only looks shrinked. Maybe adding some mire stylesheets for certain dimensions?

It's up to you but to pursue this as a career I recommend you spend a lot of time on responsive design. Separate stylesheets could be used but that approach is less favoured as it restricts flexibility to a few set breakpoints and encourages designing to the breakpoints.

I have made some small changes to the website.
The homepage is now responsive(yet to make other pages), and I have used more stylesheets to do it.
For blog, I am using AnchorCMS.
