My story with Oracle Forms in background

Posted 16 February 2017 - 09:36 AM

Im furious so bear with me without any kind of bad feelings.

3 months ago, I answered job offer for software-dev. Ive successfully completed their evaluation tests (plus conversation in group of 3: HR rep, my boss and me), during which my boss assigned me to Java devs) and was offered a job.
After all formal staff, I was presented with my work-duties.
To my astonishment it turned out that I'll work in Oracle Forms. I have to create/reset/modify FORMS as desired.
When it comes to graphic design its OK - I can do it. When it comes to PL/SQL Id never had any experience with it. So Im mapping pure SQL and it runs (for now).

The truth came out. The truth is that he simply lied to me.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

The truth is that I am developing Forms with PL/SQL instead of Java apps. Doing no Java at all.

You can always go elsewhere. Otherwise, it is a good opportunity to get into a very lucrative skillset.

is PL/SQL (and Forms) lucrative skillset? I dont think so.....
How many (big) companies have chosen to rely on Oracle's products like EBS, Forms etc? Serious question

You're right, but it doesnt change the fact that Ive lied to by my boss. He didnt even say a word about Oracle during my entire recrutation proccess.

And you do have the option to leave. Probationary periods are for both sides, not just the companies to evaluate new hires.

Yes, accept what has happened and decide what you will now do going forward. Complaining without a goal, a plan or proposal, won't help.
