Ride the Fractal Wave (Software Idea)

Posted 07 March 2017 - 05:39 PM

Hey all,
So I've been brainstorming and trying to find the time here for a couple months to create a program in Unity that will take music and turn it into fractal patterns (which has obviously been done many times over). I just had another idea and I'm wondering what you guys think about this and if you think it could be done feasibly in Unity.

What if you made a GAME rather than a visualizer that would allow you to play music and sort of like a space race game you could ride the wave of the music you were listening to. There was an old game for PSX called "wipeout" and I was kind of thinking a mix of that game and a music visualizer. So you could play whatever song you want through your ASIO soundcard OR perhaps through a standardized driver, take the input, convert it into fractals then create a racing game where you could race your friends through a fractal maze that was based on the music.

Do you guys think that would feasible in Unity or would it require a large team?

and ..
Would anyone be interested in collaborating on such a project?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Your thread has been moved to our Volunteer Jobs and Collaborative Teambuilding forum. Please remember that threads seeking volunteer help, a group to learn together, or a group to work on a hobbyist project do not belong in the general help forums or our paid jobs forum.
The paid jobs forum is strictly for jobs for which you intend to pay some definite sum in a negotiable currency. Shares in future profits, in-game currencies, and promises of possible employment do not qualify.

If I recall correctly, somebody (at Microsoft?) modified the Tempest source code to use music as the generator for the aliens. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a Burning Man fixture or just a private project.

As with most projects - break it down.

Unity input from a mic. Sure.

Examples:

Fractals.. sure.

Certainly seems your two major areas are there.

Do-able, yes.

nice thanks MODI THATS QUALITY!!

And also to anyone who plans on messaging me trying to get paid you're not going to get paid. I think you're misunderstanding what I'm asking for.. I'm not asking for a team of people just people who throw code snippets into the mix.
