First of all, why Java 7 and not the latest release? Secondly, have you checked whether that version is available in Fedora's package repositories? You can probably use yum to do that, or whatever tool they're using now to query the repos. If not, you can find the Java 7 archives here. If you want to just run Java programs, then you'll need the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If you want to write and compile Java programs too, you'll need the Java Development Kit (which also includes the JRE). See the installation instructions here (these are for 8, but things in terms of installation likely haven't changed much so are still relevant if you're using the older versions).

Why do you think you need 7 and that 8 wouldn't be suitable?

If you type which java
& then java -version
This will show you that you have Java installed. The error message that you are getting does not look like an install error, but something with the code.

Are you trying to run a headless selenium, by chance?

I dont know what with code, I just enter java -jar and then my jar file. I have also that jar file opening in windows and works great with that version of java. Now i got files for linux and having some script which just does opening a that jar file with a java jdk which i have in that whole folder. But give me bad exec error. SO i tried to install that kind of java, suppose that is offline version because script called bash java file in jdk bin folder...

It would really help if you told us what application you were trying to run and give us more details. Are you saying that the application includes a version of the JDK or JRE? You mentioned "vbox", by which I assume you're referring to VirtualBox. Perhaps there's some problem with virtual machines relating to display resolutions? I don't know, but the error message is about the resolutions. Are you able to run this on a real Linux installation?

application is within our company, so its not something on the web. Windows version works, just have same jar file and some batch file which contains "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_73\bin\javaw.exe" -jar myjar.jar

I tried to live machine, on raspberry PI, with several version of linux.

I would agree with this. It doesn't look like the installed Java version is having trouble running the JAR, but rather that the code within is trying to open a full-screen window in an unsupported resolution.

The error mentions a 1280x720 resolution. Can you set that resolution on the Linux machine you are trying to run this on?

If you're running this in a VirtualBox VM, make sure the guest additions are installed. They seem to make just about any resolution possible.

You usually need only type Java and then the version. I never test it on virtual machine and that is might be the problem.
