Is there something like a university site for learning game programming. Other stuff I wanna learn is how to create a text processor, like libre office in java. I'd like path from novice to expert. Thanks for all.

Pick up a java book and learn how to program java first. Then figure out what game engine you want to use for a game, or what parts you need to design for a text processor.

I know java, but I wanna keep my knowledge of java by reading lots of code. By now I'm reading about concurrency in java. I wanna learn the design of these games so I can build my own games.

Oh, you know java now? Mkay.

Here's the bummer - java isn't that widely used in game development. C++, C#, etc are. The major engines do not support it (unity, unreal, etc)

Oh the plus side if you know java then you know the joyous concepts of programming and can use that to pick up another language that better applies to one of the active engines!

So what's java good for? Because Java is so popular, that's the main reason I learned it.

I think Java can be used for some kind of games since it has support for audio, bitmaps, vector graphics.

There are also books on Amazon about game programming

Whom ever told you it's popular, I would check with them. I'll mirror modi123_1's statement that it's far from the most widely used.

I will never understand why new members get an idea from someone else (whom may or may not be an expert in the field) then ask us, get a different answer & argue back that an outside source (whom isn't forthcoming with details) is correct & we are wrong. It's an impossible argument. Maybe have that person be a member here instead of arguing rhetoric vs rhetoric?

According to these sites Java is still number 1.

I guess that if someone searches long enough he will find different results.

Yes, Java is the top language that people ask about on the web. That doesn't mean it's the top language for, say, writing game engines
