Certified what?!?!

Posted 29 August 2017 - 08:09 PM

So I'm exchanging email with this developer who has been tweaking some code for the past 3 weeks. In the exchange they happen to say "We don't use source control.". I think to my self: "Okay. Probably a rookie." until I happened to look at their signature which says: "Senior Developer, Certified ScrumMaster, Certified SAFe Practitioner". Then I think to myself: "Certified what?!?! They should know better by now after all that experience and certifications!"

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Scrum Master and SAFe are just planning folk. Less of the doing folk. "Can I section up this work? Yes, yes I can".

What gets me there is the "WE" part. Maybe he is a project manager trying to move into being a developer - making him a rookie developer. But "WE" meaning the company as an entity, doesn't use source control.... That sounds like "we" is really "I", and that "we" is some schmuck developing on his kitchen table. A freelancer that works for himself not because he has moved beyond working for others, but because he can't get hired by a real company.

Apparently 20 years of development experience based on other conversations I've had with her...

20 years as a developer and doesn't use source control?
