It should be.

I sort of assumed it was a romance like Tweek and Craig.

This morning was spent helping wayward freshmen find the appropriate university services.

T_T I know we have a nightmare in code section for a reason, but given that my day has been dealing with this it also belongs here. We got some 3rd party source, and dealing with it is... unfriendly... to the eyes and minds of people who work on software all the time. I can't post any of it as it is proprietary, but suffice it to say that my eyes bleed when I have to deal with it. It came as 2 10K+ line files, with dozens of classes and circular dependencies. I have spent the last few days breaking the files up to separate out the classes (like any sane person would; though at this point I am starting to question that) and have finally gotten rid of the 100s of pages of compile warnings and other things. There is still a _ton_ of bad practices happening in the code, and at best I can describe it as C+ (the language, not grade)

If you're into refactoring, I've got an application consisting of a couple hundred files of PHP code that was authored by The Guy Solely Responsible For PHP's Bad Reputation, I could hand that project over to you. We've been meaning to rewrite that one for a while, but only 2 customers use it. Don't worry though, there aren't any classes in it at all.

It was the guy's first experience with PHP. He never really complained or had a lot of questions for the other developers, he would occasionally show features and progress, and he had our other application to use as a base to start with. It turns out that asking for help wasn't really "his thing", but he did stress himself out to the point of making himself physically ill, so that's cool.

Anyway, now we take code reviews more seriously.

Thanks guys. I came across some bad patches in our codebase and I was feeling a little down about it, but man, it's not PHP. I feel better now.

Hm, updated firmware to a pair of NVDIMMs today. The first one succeeded, the second claimed to succeed, validated, attempted to load the new firmware (and failed) and then was unable to rollback. Great.

After that, the system they were in wouldn't boot with the failed NVDIMM in it claiming that there weren't enough PCI resources available to boot (0xD4 POST code). Removing that NVDIMM resolved the issue. So, now I am uncertain if the tool has an issue with flashing multiple NVDIMMs (even though it allows it), or if something else is going on. That is fun. Hopefully we can recover the NVDIMM so we don't just have a dead one hanging around, but for the time being at least it is a bit scary...

@Modi Feel better soon!

I gave my first precalculus exam today. Most folks were out in the first half hour. So far, the first page looks pretty good. We'll see how the rest of their exams fair.
