some free tool for manage the vpn linux machines

Posted 22 September 2017 - 03:53 PM

hi huys, i am trying to get some free tool to manage some linux machines in my VPN.
Something like using domain in Windows.
I know that it is free and sucks, but can you propose me some solutions, or your experiences? I tried with puppet, but it is not for me very well. My machines are all ubuntu distro

Excuse me?

Puppet, from my experience, is a tool for software management & deployment over a network infrastructure.

While not Linux, you really should be looking into Pfsense as it uses OpenVPN.

idea from the start was that i have my linux distros and if I want to have a small change on the system or something like that to have it from one place, like I said in Windows Server Domain where you can just add some policies. I wanted it first with puppet, but it cant seems to me that is very good for what I need.

If you are talking configs, I would just use git. If you are talking system deployment, I would suggest puppet. You could alternatively look into chef or ansible.
