LED Animations using Parallel port and TASM

Posted 29 September 2017 - 05:21 PM

Good day! We are tasked by our teacher to familiarize ourselves in computer's parallel port. Our project is LED animations using 8 LEDs, 8 Parallel Data ports using TASM. I've researched the following code(see codes).

I can already turn on and turn off the LEDs using the mov al,11111111b code.I know that every digit of the binary code represent 1 data port. But I can't make them all blink like x number of times. Can you please explain the code so that I can do animations like Blink LEDs from left to right and vice versa, Do christmas lights animations. Any help would be appreciated.

.model small
.code
org 100h
start:
	main proc
	mov dx,378h; call parallel port

mov al,11111111b; turn all led/data ports
	out dx,al
	mov ax,4c00h; return to os
	int 21h

	main endp
end start
