Software Testing Methods (literature/journals)

Posted 25 October 2017 - 07:57 AM

Hello,

I'm writing a research paper which will investigate the various software testing methods that are used today, I also hope to see how they've evolved, and the pros/cons of each.

Can anybody recommend any good academic journals around software testing to get me started ?

Thanks,
Jlis

Honestly, I would suggest sitting down with one of the faculty in your department that does research in software engineering. Even a grad student would be helpful. They will likely have a much better idea on the conferences and journals in which to look. At the very least, skim their publications for pointers to the literature.

One thing to note is that in CS, conference publications are usually a bigger deal than journal publications.

Wikipedia is a good place to start. There are lots of links in the References section; if not exactly what you are looking for they will lead to other resources.

As a former researcher (albeit in physics) myself, I'd second macosxnerd101's suggestion. You want to find out what work has been done already in the field and where to look for it, so people working in the field are going to be most relevant.

As an aside, I'm surprised that in CS conference publications are looked upon more favourably than journal publications. It's just a different world, I guess!

We computer geeks like the post conference parties. Specially when the conference is in Vegas.

There are many techniques to perform the testing on any software, application or website! But the important thing is to select the most appropriate technique for the testing purpose. You should select a technique which is time-saving, low in prices, low defects, better software development life cycle. Keep all these factors in mind before selecting a testing method for the application, website or software.
