Again, as has been mentioned, your filterdata sub is filling the dataset from all the original data from the database.

If you are not going to try using a DataView to just filter the data that is shown, then you need to save the data (checked states) to the database before loading it all again in your filterdata sub.

You also have the option of doing as modi123_1 mentioned, temporarily save the checked states of the current items, then call your filterdata sub, and then go through and set the checked states to the saved checked states.
