Lets talk about Godot

Posted 26 October 2017 - 09:59 AM

What are your thoughts on Godot?

3.0 is right around the corner and it is officially adding C# support.

Is it mature enough to compete against the giant that is Unity?

I know Unity just added a ton of much needed 2D love in a recent release.

I would love to know everyone thoughts and if they plan to move to Godot and why.

Never heard of it. Until a major studio cops to using it I wouldn't bet on it being an industry challenger.

Some of the major benefits of is it being completely open source and you don't have to worry about the slash screens before your game.

Godot is somewhat popular in the indie crowd, but if I have to write C# anyway I may as well use Unity.

Godot supposedly supports a better interface for beginner users, the language is very easy to understand without being a professional programmer (looks like Python) and many users consider is a better choice for small projects and 2D projects.

Slant did a good review comparing em: Please MODs erase this if it is against the rules, I am not doing it for spamming:
