making a data grid view to mimic a tree view

Posted 29 October 2017 - 02:21 PM

I am working on a project and I want a list of data to be returned but is separated by a breakdown.

A small example:

+ Men
CEO Fred
COO George
+ Women
Sec Fredrika
Eng Georgina

In the above example, there would be 2 columns (Position, Name) of data under each gender. So, essentially I am looking at making a data grid view to mimic a tree view. I have seen it done before, I just don't know what to search for. Could someone point me in the correct direction? Thanks!!

Why not use a tree view? You can combine the position and name in the SQL query.

Please use a descriptive title, not "Direction...". I have changed it for you.

I really thought about doing that, but I kind of want to maintain the column headers to show what the data below represents. I am sure that I have to create a custom control class, just not sure how to do it so I am looking for direction. Thanks!
