Aforgomon's Dramatic Entrance

Posted 24 December 2017 - 01:17 AM

*curtain rises, revealing a misty graveyard*
"They used to call me Jacob,"
*lightning flash*
"Now they call me Aforgomon."

---------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I'm Jacob, and I'm a novice C# programmer, and an experienced GML programmer (GML is basically trash though so it doesn't count).

I just started learning C# Tuesday but I think I've made considerable progress. Here's my most recent project (Disclaimer: thrown together to demonstrate C# to a friend, not by any means an actual attempt at decent coding).

WARNING: ~150 lines of code ahead.
Spoiler

Hope I can be useful and make some friends here, and thanks for having me!

Welcome to Dream.In.Code Jacob! Glad to see another person getting interested in C#. It is definitely a popular and versatile language. I have been working with it for years and love using it when it comes to .NET desktop and ASP.NET development (even though I do prefer other languages over ASP.NET for web dev). I have built an award-winning VoIP provisioning platform off of it, so it can't be all that bad. ;)

Thanks for joining up! :)

Thanks! I'm heading off to UCM (University of Central Missouri, formerly Central Missouri State University) for a Master's of Computer Science in Software Development, so hopefully I can keep active here and show off what I learn every now and then. ;)

As for Martyr2's response (because I can't figure out how the heck to use MultiQuote), I hope that someday I can be on that level of pumping out award-winning programs and applications for major companies. My goal in life is to make six figures, live in a two-story suburban home, and have a wife and kids by the time I'm 30, but no kids sooner than 24.

Of course they do. Magazines, organizations, communities etc all hand out awards for software products and even websites. Just type in "award winning software" into Google and be amazed! :)
