for my master's work in 2005, I used backprop network ans Kohonen's SOM

since that, I made some projects using MLP (another name for backprop network), SVM, RBM, some GLB for a Kaggle in 2015

Yes, I mainly use machine learning during my spare time but I use the same process as during my studies : documentation researchs, preprocessing, tests, ..

I made some projects like audio captcha decoder, Kaggle driver recognition contest or analysis of comments online just for fun

But I also work a lot outside my dayjob to build my own activity and becames my own boss :)

Welcome to Dream.In.Code rubyrailsninja! Thanks for joining up. Just do me a favor with the machine learning, don't make skynet. If you do, at least call it something else since skynet is heavily overused these days. Maybe "DoomNet" or "KillYouAllNet" or something. More menacing it is the better. Then we will know how dangerous it is and can stockpile weapons to fight it. ;)

But anyways, glad to hear you are working on such things. Hopefully you can lend some of that know how to others when they need it!

Are you afraid the recommendation engines are going to get you, Martyr2?

Recommendation engine today.... death engine tomorrow! What you weren't told before is that SkyNet started as a food recipe recommendation engine. It went from Tuna casserole to T1000.
