America's Army: Operations Recon

Post icon  Posted 04 July 2002 - 09:07 AM

As many of you may already know from other news venues, The America's Army: Operations RECON was released this morning (July 4, 2002) at 3:00 A.M. EST and is available for download.

The game runs on the Unreal engine. This version contains four training missions and six multiplayer maps. From Basic Training to full combat missions on a variety of battlefields this FPS rockz!

There is also a movie trailer for those riding the fence whether or not to get it. Good stuff regardless. B)

If you haven't already, get over to the America's Army: Operations 'Recon' Official Site and poke around.

Mirrors of Game Download:At least do yourself the favor of checking out the movie trailer. ;)

Enjoy!

Wish some public CS servers would pick up these:
America's Army Operations: Rules Of Engagement
Following is a list of common rules and regulations that should be observed while you are connected to the Official ArmyOps game servers. They deal with your user name, general behavior and courtesy, and repercussions that should be expected should you fail to follow these simple guidelines.

The AGA admins are available to assist you via the 24/7 Admin support accessible through www.americasarmy.com. We thank you in advance for your patience and compliance with these admins; they are there to assist you and the other patrons on the server.
        Names
A derogatory or slanderous name that involves race, gender, sexual preference, religion or creed can and will be grounds for immediate removal, with or without warning.

A name involving excessively explicit or vulgar language may be warned for and can lead to removal.

Bear in mind the following character restrictions in the login name when signing up for America's Army: Operations:
          \ / : * ? " < > |
          are NOT valid.

Using any of these characters will result in your game not authenticating or saving correctly; in other words, you won't be able to complete the training missions or play online.
        Code of Conduct
Any and all threats against the server, including attempts to hack, crash, or flood a server, actual or implied, are instant grounds for removal and can result in legal action. Come on, this is the U.S. Army you're messing with! Be smart.

Derogatory language or slander involving race, gender, sexual preference, religion or creed, including negative use of otherwise harmless words such "gay" or "jew" will not be tolerated.

Excessively harassing other players is not permitted on Official ArmyOps servers. A little healthy competitive trash-talking is tolerable; however excessive comments directed at specific players will be grounds for warning and/or removal.

Impersonation of AGA, Dev team members, or other members of the Army staff or other fraudulent use of tag of identification is immediate grounds for removal from the servers . This includes close spellings intended to deceive other players in the servers.
        In-game Actions
The following will not be permitted on any of the Official ArmyOps server:
          • Purposely opening fire on teammates
          • Using flash or smoke grenades to disorient teammates
          • Standing in passageways to purposely block teammates
          • Spamming chat or voice commands
        Teamwork
Following the first few weeks after the launch, as the game develops and players gain experience and understanding of strategy, the environment, and team deployment, the Official ArmyOps servers will command the highest level of dedication and understanding of the game and one.s role in it. Players will be expected to work together as a team. Choosing not to follow commands with the rest of your team is done at your own peril; lone wolf Rambo wanna-be's may be removed from the server without warning. This is a game about the Army. They tend to want you to obey orders in the Army. If you disagree with the commands you are given, it is within your means to advance yourself to a commanding position. It is recommended you choose the legitimate course of action for your own continued well-being.

Of course, our final ROE is to simply have fun!

Of course, my first error

Can't find file for package 'D3DDrv'

History: UObject::SafeLoadError <- UObject::StaticLoadClass <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

-- EDIT --
I believe its just a DirectX error (need to update to 8.1)
I'll try that

------------ CURRENT RATING OF AMERICAN ARMY >1/10< ------------------

I would say this is one of the WORST releases i have EVER seen in the history of games.

They wernt prepared AT ALL for their release. They should have relised how many people actually wanted this game.

THe idea of having to complete a Online mission before actually playing 'freestyle' is a good idea gone bad.
They should have released this on April fools ffs.

Out of the 1000+ servers, theres probablly 20 That has this online mission. And- GOod luck joining one with 60K+ players.
