I like trips KYA. I think this was a trip in more than one use of the word.

But it's not actually illegal in Cyrodill. Although, few admit to openly practicing it ever since Arch Mage Traven banned necromancy.

I wish there was a game technology discussion forum like the JAVA forum has for discussion theories, ideas, thoughts, and anything that isn't yet another XNA help thread or a one liner request for game code. Just so there's a filter for general talk on making games. I really want to be more active here but I have a problem with the vague questions and XNA topics and would rather separate language from actual game creation.

Maybe it would be nice to have something like they have in the C++ forum where it is more about advanced discussions than help, maybe a sticky with a set topic of discussion for each fortnight or something.

Yeah. All I know is I'm tired of seeing over-programmed XNA code snippets that do what you can do in 4 or so lines of C/JAVA code.

So, to make it all more organzied, there is now an XNA subforum:
http://www.dreaminco...howforum125.htm

I think this would be a good way to keep those questions in their own place while the general game programming questions will be here, in the parent forum.

Thanks for the heads up on this, WolfCoder.

That'll take out like half the threads. Thanks. I honestly want to help people but I can't if they keep over-writing their code. I'm really focused on just general game design theories. The practice is generally easy (albeit time-consuming), save for the few tricky subjects. There's nothing WRONG with XNA, only with how newcomers appear to approach it.

Does Microsoft use C-sharp for any of their products?

I heard that Sun employees don't really use Java internally at all, Microsoft could be the same way. You'd think that would say something about the languages...

C# was made by a group of microsoft programmers made specifically for the .Net library because they were using it so much. They decided it would be easier to create a new language and so the child of this idea was C#. So yes, I would imagine microsoft uses C# a lot since they built it specifically to make it easier on themselves

I would LOVE to see more topics on general game design theories for both 2D and 3D (even though I haven't gotten to 3D yet in my learning).

Maybe I will think of some dicussion questions to start it up.
