Getting the work day started...

Posted 12 February 2008 - 06:06 AM

So I'm sitting here, trying to get my Tuesday morning started while sipping on my complimentary, company provided coffee. I'll assume most of us drink it. But where do you get yours? How many stop somewhere & buy it on the trip into the office? Others may bring it from home. While others yet, like myself, simply take what is available.

On a side note, how do you take your coffee? I like mine black. It's quick fast & in a hurry. Plus at the restaurant when they "top-me-off", I don't have to worry about them throwing off the mixture of sugar & creamer.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

Don't drink coffee, stuff is gross.

Start out my day with a big glass of Orange Juice at home.

This will be my first day back at work in almost 3 months (been on medical leave)< not only am I nervous as hell, but the more coffee I drink the more nervous I get lol. But back on track, I drink my coffee at home, then at work we have free coffee with an assortment of creamers (well the Programming Team has them, which I am a part of)

Over the years I've developed a technique for conquering super hard exams (such as engineering mechanics) & deadlines, ladies I introduce you to the coffee cube. 1 hit = 6 hours of guaranteed alertness, I think I've used this thing one too many times after procrastinating on projects when I was a freelancer as I'm now immune to caffeine shakes >_>.

Though the funny thing is how I recommend using the cubes with cramming. Take 1 cube every 6 hours the night before the exam, don't sleep cause it'll get you all tired and sore the next day (you have plenty of time for that after the exam). Turn up to the exam but do not take any cubes during the transportation stage. Consume 1 cube just prior to the exam. Return home after the exam, go to the toilet first (trust me on this one) and throw yourself onto your bed. If i guess right, you will sleep for about the rest of the day and possibly turn nocturnal when you wake up in the middle of the night. XD

So in response to your side question, I like my coffee mixed with non raising flour & baked into a cube.

I usually stop at BP and buy a High Voltage Mocha. Only 1.55 top that Starbucks. The company that I worked for before relocation provided company coffee and I had to bring in my own creamers. Black coffee just doesnt taste good to me, especially that sludge corporate companies provide. Well the company I went with doesnt provide free coffee and you have to join the Coffee Club. (I'll stick to my BP)

If at home I used to drink Chock Full O Nuts. havent seen it in the stores lately, so I don't drink much coffee at home any more.

I don't drink coffee (used to do it back in high-school maybe), now I read dic instead. I take some 100% fruit juice as liquid, that is just enough or maybe tea at work.

Only if I am Rudie I am"drinking brew for breakfast".

The company buys good coffee for everyone but I don't drink coffee...

Right now I've got a bottle of G2, in the morning I normally have an energy drink or something of the like. After that it's mainly bottled water.

Re: Getting the work day started...

My life over the last couple of years has been a slow coffee weaning process.

I have always started the day with a cup of tea first but I used to have an espresso too then a cappucino on the way to work. 6-8 cups of filter coffee at work. An espresso when I got home then 3-4 teas during the evening.

I realized this probably wasn't a good idea as I am an insomniac too.

I cut back to tea in the morning. A cappucino on the way to work. 2-3 cups of filter coffee at work. 2-3 teas in the evening.

Then we moved offices and my boss bought a toy fridge as he's a cheapskate so the milk in winter is always frozen or gone off (it's a peltier device designed for kids bedrooms in the summer so it freezes everything in winter).

So since the move I'm down to tea in the morning. A cappucino on the way to work. Oolong tea at work and if I'm desperate an instant cappucino thing that gives you heartburn as it's made with weird vegetable extracts instead or proper dried milk. 2-3 teas in the evening.

I must admit I do miss the coffee...all is not lost though as I have badgered my boss into getting a real fridge so I'll be back on the coffee come march.
