Broken bezier curves in actionscript 3.0

Post icon  Posted 12 February 2008 - 02:00 PM

i know the basic design for coding bezier curves, but im trying to come up with a way to change the basic control point principle that controls how the curve bends... this is my code for a normal bezier curve where i want this one to be on the stage:

//XXXXXXXXXXXCALLSXXXXXXXXX
s.graphics.lineStyle(1, 0xffffff, 10);
s.graphics.moveTo(800,-80);
// 800 and -80 as a starting point
s.graphics.curveTo(400,280,800,300);
//control point 400,280 and endpoint 800,300

this is where i want it, but i want it to break the control point at about where it starts to curve upward and i want it to be an inward curve, essentially kind of like a nose.

in thinking about it I don't really know how to approach creating a function that would split my curves up like this without giving a harsh looking edge between the two curves, any help with this would be appreciated, thanks
