While it's great that Microsoft wants to start doing what Apple, Sun, and many other have been doing for years, I find Mr. Gates' remarks about FOSS software to be rather childish...

He is doing what he can to protect the Windows franchise as long as possible. The mark of a VERY clever business man.
BG is my business hero. He is NOT my technology hero.
--- back to topic ---
Now, it's good that the software is free, but in the end it is just another business decision. Make everyone comfortable with MS development while they are students, if any of the start companies, or get a job, they will try to use MS.
So it's a good thing. But remember. Just like everything MS, Google, IBM, Apple does, none of it is overtly benevolent. Every decision is made to increase income. Whether or not it works is a different matter.

I need to have an ISIC card (don't even know what it is). Also I can't get one from the city I live in. I have plans of talking to the HOD of the CS department. But if .NET is not in the CS course, there's not much I can do
