Who's working for free tomorrow?

Posted 28 February 2008 - 08:31 AM

I was telling Josh (supersloth) yesterday that we are working for free on Friday, February 29th because it's a leap year and the extra day falls on a week day.

We are salaried employees, paid for 2080 hours per year. In a leap year like this year, we work 2088 hours, but still only get paid for 2080.

I say we're working Friday for free, but Josh says we're actually working 115 seconds per day for free. Or 18 minutes per bi-weekly pay period.

So, are you working for free tomorrow?

I'm paid an annual flat rate split into 12 equal amounts irrespective of the length of the month or the number of hours I work.
I'm on flexitime with core hours of 11am-4pm and a minimum of 35hrs per week.

Josh, I want you to announce each day for the rest of the year when you start, and when you stop, working for free.

I don't know if I would call anything I am doing tomorrow work...I have to take a few notes in History and review for our two week long mid-term in Programming I. That is pretty much my day, other than playing with that addictive pivot program that was posted on this site and now I can't stop messing with.
